How often should I change my window display?

Every two to four weeks for a full change, with small tweaks weekly. Regular passers-by stop seeing a window that never changes.

Aim for a full change every two to four weeks, with a small tweak each week. People who walk past daily stop noticing a window that stays the same, even a beautiful one.

Small weekly tweaks

  • Swap the hero item for a new arrival
  • Change the sign or chalk message
  • Move one prop to shift the balance

Bigger changes

Tie full refreshes to the calendar: seasons, school terms, local festivals, the first cold snap. Plan a rough list for the year so you can collect props as you go instead of scrambling the night before.

Keep it simple

One clear idea per window. A single colour, a single story, one thing you want people to come in and touch. Step across the street and look at it as a stranger would. If you can’t tell what it is about in three seconds, take something out.
